Greetings from Brooklyn!

Hi, everyone!  Thanks for all your great questions...and the book reviews!

Here are some of the answers to your questions:

I wrote my first story when I was about 6 years old.  My first grade teacher, Mrs. Cooper, really inspired me.  She told me I was a good writer and gave me extra assignments so I would write even more.    The first book I had published was Click Clack Moo.  I wrote it in 1995, but it wasn't published until 2000.  It was hard to wait...but it was worth it!

I am 43 years old.

My favorite food is....coffee!!  Does that count?  Actually, its a toss up between pizza and grilled cheese.  I also love avocados!

My favorite sport is baseball.  I used to go to a lot of NY Mets games, but I don't get much of a chance these days.  I am going to try to get to one this summer so can see the new stadium.  I also love bowling!

Right now I am working on two new picture books and a chapter book.  The chapter book has been the most difficult book for me to write because its a whole new format.  Its been really challenging, but I'm happy with the results.  Right now an illustrator is working on some sketches for the book.  I think it will be ready next September.

Your posts are fantastic.  I can see that you are all working hard!!  Thanks for including me on your project and please let me know if you have any more questions!

  1. Dear Doreen,
Thank you for writing us back with your answers.
What a coincidence -- we like bowling, too!
We want to see what your new book is going to be! What is the title? We just can't wait to read it!
    What is your favorite color?
We hope you will write us back again.

  2. Doreen,

The kids agreed that coffee cannot count as your favorite food, only your favorite drink. =)
They liked your additional choices of pizza and grilled cheese, though.

  3. Doreen,

Could you tell us your birth month? We read all of our books that are not seasonal by the author's birthday so we make sure to read all books every year, at least!

    Thanks,
    Barb
